Stathis Mitsios has designed for the 60th International Film Festival a 3D projection mapping installation at Pier 1 of Thessaloniki’s port, on sides of the Old Pump House. The history of the Festival was projected onto the building’s facades through 3D and 2D animations and digitized archive material. This spectacular visual narration was viewed by the port’s visitors upon their entrance, as well as by passers-by on Nikis Boulevard.
Having studied interior design and graphic design, Stathis Mitsios experiments with light and animation. He integrates video into the scenery by creating virtual environments and complex lighting conditions through 3D projection mapping. His collaborations include organizations such as the National Theater of Greece, the National Opera House, the State Theater of Northern Greece, the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, the Melbourne Hellenic Museum and others.
