The Cultural Society of Entrepreneurs of Northern Greece and the 7th Art-Thessaloniki International Contemporary Fair (November 23-26, 2023), for the fourth time, launch a call for interest to all young artists, up to 33 years old, wishing to participate in the MATAROA Awards.
Aiming to promote and showcase young artists as part of the country’s cultural frontline, the two co-organizers host a contest, set up a thematic exhibition and bestow a series of awards to every artist who stands out. Through this open call process that includes a portfolio submission and the candidates’ evaluation by a special 5-member jury, 10 young artists are given the chance to individually exhibit their work, in a specially configured venue, during the 7th Art Thessaloniki Fair.
The Jury and the audience will designate the most prominent nominee out of the 10 selected portfolios and award a 1,500 Euros cash prize, while two other works will receive honorary distinctions, as well a 700 Euros cash prize each. Moreover, the 10 nominated artists will feature on the websites of both Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair (www.art-thessaloniki.gr | www.artforum.gr) and the Cultural Society of Entrepreneurs of Northern Greece (www.peebe.gr | www.culturalsociety.gr). Last but not least, the thematic issue of MATAROA will host a special tribute to the first prize laureate, both in its printed edition and on its website (www.mataroa.gr).

INFORMATION
The MATAROA project is a platform for Greek artists and modern culture in Greece. An initiative undertaken by the Cultural Society of Entrepreneurs of Northern Greece aiming to promote contemporary artistic creation and cultural activity in Greece, project MATAROA is anchored on three pillars: the printed version, the website and the titular awards bestowed to young artists.
Art-Thessaloniki International Contemporary Fair has established itself as the most prominent art event in the Southeast part of Europe. Besides its commercial aspect, as it gives the floor to some of the most high-profile galleries from Greece and abroad, Art-Thessaloniki International Contemporary Fair is to a large extent dedicated to culture, hosting exhibitions and taking up projects of high prestige. Mr. Pantelis Tsatsis, the Fair’s founder and artistic director, is the man behind this endeavor, which is held in collaboration with TIF-HELEXPO, at pavilions 8, 9 & 10.
