Internationally acclaimed architecture magazine Wallpaper* had singled out the work of Eleni Petaloti and Leonidas Trampoukis ever since 2012, when they founded LoT architectural office. The two Greek architects and AUTh’s graduates, moving and working between Greece and New York, embarked on their American adventure in 2010, completing their post-graduate studies at Columbia University. It did not take them time to stand out for their restless spirit and their unquestionable talent, teaming up with top-notch institutions, such as the SOM collective of architects and the Guggenheim Foundation.
In 2014, Wallpaper* ranked them among the hottest up-and-coming talents in the field of architecture, whereas in 2015 the architecture duo from Greece set up a side project, the design studio Objects of Common Interest. One of the most impressive moments under their belt is no other than the Flatiron Skyline, the impressive sculpture-installation right in front of the iconic Flatiron Building.
However, the greatest affirmation of a journey is fresh to arrive. As every year, Wallpaper* bestowed its Design Awards, reserving the winner’s podium for Objects of Common Interest, as a recognitions of their remarkable feats during the last 12 months. Among the accomplishments of the two Greek architects one can single out the exhibition hosted at Noguchi Museum of New York, as well as their participation at the digital platform Perfettooo, where they created imaginary places, intertwining objects, collage, architecture, music and video.
Famous Italian filmmaker (and interior designer) Luca Guadagnino, a member of Wallpaper*’s Design Awards 2022 Jury, had nothing but praises for the award-winning Greek duet: “I deeply appreciate their capacity to go beyond the functional use of object. They make use of the volumes in a deeply personal, yet coherent, way.”
