Nikolas Anadolis and Christina Psycha are delving into the poetic universe of Kostas Karyotakis, extracting the music behind the poet’s words, in order to craft a multilayered sound environment. I want to leave at any time is the title of the poem put into a song by the composer and performer Christina Psycha.
“I want to leave far away from here at any time / I want to go away to a place unknown and new / I want to become a golden dust within the ether / a simple element, free, brave…”, as Christina Psychas’ music weaves a narrative thread with Karyotakis’ lyrics – a perfect example of Modernism in early 20th century Greek poetry.
The two artists also teamed up for the orchestration, in addition to Nikolas Anadolis’ piano accompanying the vocal performance, in this foretaste of Christina Psycha’s new project, which, to quote her own post on facebook, will be totally different from her previous works.
I want to leave at any time is included in Elegy and Satires, the third and final collection of poetry by Kostas Karyotakis, released in 1927, just a year before the poet’s death.
Nikolas Anadolis and Christina Psycha have joined forces for the past six years, gradually shaping their trademark sound as a duo, which includes songs from many different parts of the globe, as well as their own creations featured in Violetera, Christina Psycha’s debut solo album.
