Gerovassiliou Estate celebrated the World Wine Tourism Day on Sunday November 12th 2023, offering the chance to wine-lovers to watch visual artist Giorgos Tzinoudis as he painted live a horizon in red and white, at the café of the Gerovassiliou Wine Museum. In addition, guided tours in the vineyard, the wine production area and the Gerovassiliou Wine Museum, as well as wine-tasting sessions, took place.
In the artist’s own words: “In this case, the only thing planned beforehand was the selected height and the spot of this translucent drawing so that it would coincide with the average Greek eye height and merge with the horizon seen from the café of the Gerovassiliou Wine Museum. In other words, the goal was to trigger a game between the translucent horizon we created and the real horizon.”
As for what serves as a source of inspiration for him, here’s what Giorgos Tzinoudis has to say: “Inspiration may spring out of literally anything. The sound of the neighbor’s toilet flushing at 3 am, the rustle and the movement of leaves in a vineyard – such as in our case – or the lyrics of Miltos Sachtouris. Or maybe while pondering in the night, as you gaze at the starry sky and come to realize that all these stars are suns, awe-struck and in despair at the same time. Everything we do, after all, is like desperate scratches on a soil floor as rain pours down on us.”
