From the improvisational and harmonious tradition of jazz to the whole spectrum of music.
He’s jammed with some of the greatest jazz legends worldwide. Guitarist Costas Magginas has been devoted to jazz ever since he started studying music, even though, truth be told, he’s always been side-glancing into other music genres. His trio, comprising Agamemnon Mardas on acoustic bass and George Klountzos-Chrysidis on drums, carries on with its own classical jazz arrangements, along with classic rock masterpieces by Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, to name a few. All together, they form a ground basis from which he draws improvisational-yet-harmonic jazz sounds, while at the same time he incorporates rhythmic and melodious elements drawn from the full spectrum of modern music: rock, folk, blues and country.
Maybe this is why the same trio recently built the Axis Mundi Project, which is essentially an experimental rock band inspired by funk, blues, hip hop and, needless to say, jazz! All in all, electric and expressive music with an emphasis on rhythm, endowed with lots of sound-light effects.
