When the late lamented artist photographer from Thessaloniki first set his eyes on the Pacific Ocean.
In the year 1983 and with camera in hand, George Poupis, the Thessaloniki-based photographer who epitomized the notion of worldliness, stood before the Pacific Οcean for the first time in his life. For four months on end, he combed the San Francisco Bay Area, «captivated by the ocean’s sublime immensity, overwhelmed with untamed vibes of exhilaration and joy, enraptured in a constant state of wonder and awe. » These are the images of his talks with the Pacific, selected by the photographer for ARTI.
George Poupis passed away in March 2018.
